A life and love of advising business owners to achieve their aspirations

Matt has had extensive career in business.  Graduating as an accountant, and a career that started working in tax moving into accounting and evolving into business strategy.  Matt’s has experienced every aspect and phase of business from start up, to scale up, to mature, and to sale and beyond, from sole trader to private company to listed public company.  Matt has been a student of business his whole career focused on his purpose of guiding, supporting and advising business owners to achieve their goals and aspirations. 

Matt commence in Public Accounting Practice in his mid 20s at a time when most accounting firms only provided year end tax compliance services.  Matt quickly worked out that this services was only a small part of what business owners required from their Accountants & Advisors.  They needed timely financial data to make informed strategic decisions.  So Matt created a Virtual CFO & Outsourced Accounting service for his clients, which not only provided them with financial information but education on how to read and understand the information.  Understanding the needs of his clients, Matt became a full equity partner of the firm he worked in, still in his 20s.  In his early thirties he had a greater thirst to pursue his purpose and joined a new firm, MPR Group, that was focused on emerging growth businesses which also offered services such as R&D Tax Incentive Services and Grant support services.  This new accounting firm was providing a service offering that was ahead of its time, as now seen by the change in the industry. 

The drive to support business owners and provide them with the services they require supported the significant growth of the firm.  Matt now Managing Partner, and in his mid forties, knew there was more left to do to support businesses.  He wanted to create a venture capital fund to support businesses looking to raise capital, and investors the opportunity to invest into emerging growth businesses.  He also wanted to add corporate advisory services to assist business owners the opportunity to realise the value of their businesses via succession.  Finally he wanted to go national.  Matt achieved all of this by merging with and growing Prime Financial Group Limited.  Matt is now the Executive Director of Prime Financial Group – an ASX Listed Company, and the Managing Director it’s Accounting & Advisory division.

During this time he advised thousands of businesses as CFO, Mentor and Advisor.  At heart he is an educator, always loving to teach business owners a better way to make their businesses thrive and their life easier.  Based on all that he learnt he became a published author on the topic of business strategy & growth titled, “Dream to Realisation – The Business Owners Journey.”  Education also led him to create a podcast series – “The Spirit of Business” which has 100 podcasts and counting.

Matt will always be a student of business and will continue to learn to education business owners to support their aspirations.

Personally Matt also has an interest in property and has developed a number of residential projects.
